Old Bedford TK lorries bought new in 1976 and used for delivering hedging plants on the old van den Broek nursery.

Delivery

We are able to offer delivery throughout the UK by one of 3 methods.

Pallet delivery

For plants under 2m in height we can arrange pallet deliveries. The number of plants we can fit per pallet depends on the plants and their pot size. We can usually put 50x 3 litre pots, 25x 11 litre pots or 12x 30/45 litre pots on a standard pallet. Pallet deliveries can be economy (usually arriving within 3 working days) or next day. Costs for pallet delivery are based on the quantity and size of plants ordered and the delivery location. Please reach out to us for a quote.

In- House Delivery

For a large percentage of orders it is most economical for us to deliver on our own vehicles. This enables us to deliver exceptionally quickly when necessary (same day deliveries are often possible) while also keeping cost to a minimum. We can also time deliveries when using our own vehicles which means we can make sure to arrive when your gardener/landscaper is on site so that your new hedging plants can go straight into the ground. We can transport plants up to 5m tall on our own vehicles though for larger plants we will require assistance with unloading. Deliveries are ‘curbside’ unles otherwise agreed.

Third Party Haulage

With our largest plants, it is often necessary to engage third party haulage contractors. We have established relationships with local hauliers and can get plants delivered on lorries which can self-unload with hiab or on rigid or articulated lorries. Prices will be based on the delivery location and the order size. If you need delivery of our larger plants please do get in touch to arrange a quote.

Planting

Tree and hedge planting is one of the larger sections of our work load. We love planting because it gives an immediate positive impact. A new hedge immediately becomes habitat for all different varieties of wildlife and will often, at the same time, give neighbours much needed privacy. We’ve been planting for well over 10 years now and are now regularly maintaining some of the hedges we originally grew and planted!

When we give you a quote for planting our quote will be inclusive of everything needed for the plants to develop into healthy, mature trees and hedges. We provides the stakes and ties where needed along with fertiliser and compost.

Along with the basic essentials we can also supply and install fully automatic irrigation systems. These are put together with horticultural grade materials so you can be sure they will do the job well for years to come.

Irrigation

Here at English Hedging we have experience with the high quality irrigation systems used on plant nurseries and have become aware that many of our customers end up with sub-par irrigation systems because of a lack of knowledge. With some basic information such as the number and size of plants, distances along the hedge or between trees, and distance to water source we can easily put together a quote for irrigation systems that will deliver exactly the right amount of water to your plants. We supply automatic irrigation timers and even wifi and bluetooth controlled units.

In our experience, at least 90% of plant failures during the first year are due to watering issues with a dripper based irrigation system you’ll avoid those issues and make sure that your plants establish well and with minimal issues. This is because a dripper system delivered exactly the right amount of water to exactly the right place, the rootball or pot. We supply pre-built irrigation systems which we can post to you, or we can come and install the system and check everything is working properly.
